Cohort 5 begins May 13th at 7 pm

You want to write... you really do.

Screenshot 2023-10-09 at 7.46_edited.jpg

Because in some way, you are a writer. Deep down, you know this. You've always known it. You have ideas and aspirations, inspiration and dreams. And you know writing is a part of getting there.

And yet... somehow the actual writing keeps ending up on the back burner.

Hi, I'm Albert, and I've been there. A lot.

The world is full of noise: distractions, shiny objects, and inputs of all kinds that demand your attention. It makes it difficult to settle into the quiet depth from which your creative visions can be born.

Our world tells us to try harder, be more disciplined, and "just do it."

I think there's a better approach.

"Albert is a true master at cultivating creativity."

Jonathan, Previous Cohort Participant

I believe that the most powerful mechanism of creative action is not discipline, but connection.

Building the habit of writing means showing up day after day to the terrifying glare of the blank page. It's simple, but not easy. For a long time, I thought my apparent inability to do this was a personal defect, and I beat myself up for it.

But here's the thing: we are social creatures, and when we engage with each other creatively, suddenly the motivation that was so elusive becomes readily available.

That's why I created The Writing Habit. While it includes carefully curated content to support a strategic and efficient approach to habit formation, at it's core it is really about coming together, being in community, and getting writing.

Are you tired of creating in a

Silo?

Imagine...

Being a part of a community of writers who have your back, cheering you on, keeping you inspired, helping you push through the blocks and find your creative flow.

The Guarantee...

I guarantee that if you join The Writing Habit you will write more prolifically in these 21-days than you have in the last year combined. And here's the thing: good writing is a natural outcome of prolific writing. You will find your voice by using it.

You have a story inside you that only you can tell...

Only you can share the unique words and phrases that are within you. And the world needs your stories. The world needs your words...now more than ever.

Unleash your Creative Potential

The Writing Habit is not just for writers. It is for anyone who wants to discover their creative potential. Creativity is life. Learn to live fully expressed.

How it works

Your job is to write.
Merely write.
But Write.
(every day)

Write about your day. Work on your novel. Make up words. Scribble. In a way, it doesn't matter what you write, and words like "good" and "bad" are initially irrelevant. Good writing is an inevitable byproduct of prolific writing.

The point is that you are developing a daily habit of being creative. â€‹

To support you to write, this container includes:

About Me

Hi! I'm Albert.

I'm a practicing freelance artist and writer. I've released seven children's books with two different publishing houses, both as a writer and illustrator, and have been designing websites for Shambhala Publications for five years. I'm passionate about discovering and expressing my true nature and helping others do the same.

I've had an (almost) daily writing practice for over a decade and have found it an indispensable ally to my creative work.

Frequently Asked Questions

I'm not a very good writer. Can I still join?

First of all, I'd be willing to bet that you're a better writer than you think you are! In any case, this container is for all levels and all kinds of writing! Everyone is welcome.

When are the live sessions?

The Creative Connection calls will be from every Monday from 7-8:30 pm PST via Zoom. The Zoom link will be sent prior to the first call via e-mail. The Co-Writing Calls will be held each Wednesday evening from 7-8 PM PST and Friday mornings from 7:30 to 8:30 AM PST for the duration of the workshop.

Connection Call Dates:
Mondays at 7 pm PST on:
May 13th, 20th, 27th and June 3rd

Co-Writing Sessions:
Wednesday evenings from 7-8 PM PST and Friday mornings from 7:30 to 8:30 AM PST via Zoom.

I can't make it to all the live calls. Is that okay?

You're encouraged to make it to as many of the Creative Connection calls as possible, but it is totally okay to miss them if you need to. They will be recorded and shared within 24 hours of the call.

The morning co-writing sessions are optional!

What will happen during the lives calls?

The Creative Connection Calls are all about connection. We'll do a lot of writing, we'll share writing in real time, and we'll have opportunities to check in with each other about our respective creative processes.

The Co-Writing Calls are a space to write independently with the mutual support and inspiration of each other. They will include a brief intention setting at the beginning, optional prompts, and a brief check out at the end.

What the heck is Slack?

Slack is a cloud-based instant messaging system that is great for connecting and sharing work in a private container. Don't worry -- there will be a short tutorial on how to use it during the first live call!

How much time will I have to spend on this each week?

Our goal together will be to set aside at least 20 minutes per day for writing, plus a 90-minute call each Sunday. But it's really up to you how much you do!
